Part One.

🟠 Primalism is not about playing a beast—it’s about being one.
What is primalism? It is a characteristic of a person, a set of traits, a way of perceiving and understanding the world. It is not just about relationships with a partner, as is commonly believed. Yes, very often, the beast interacts specifically with a partner, even participating in their search and selection. Many people assume that primalism is just about biting in bed, limiting themselves to this narrow perspective. But those who do not set such limits know that being primal is much more than that. Let’s talk about the characteristics of primals. However, keep in mind that just like humans, beasts are different, so the traits mentioned here are common to many but not all, and they can appear in various combinations.
1️⃣ The first and most significant sign of a primal, in my opinion, is the importance of scents.
🐾 Primals usually do not use perfumes (at most, they may use deodorant). They may mask themselves with other scents but wear them like a special outfit rather than as a daily habit. It is crucial for them that nothing interferes with their ability to perceive themselves, the world, and others through smell.
🐾 They dislike unnecessary scents on people. A strong fragrance on a partner disrupts the ability to fully sense them. Even after showering, the ideal approach is to wash only with water, avoiding scented soaps and shower gels, or choosing ones with the most neutral notes.
🐾 On strangers, perfume can overpower their natural body scent, making it harder for a primal to identify them.
🐾 A person with an attractive natural scent becomes “tasty” in interaction. However, someone with an excessively alluring scent is likely to bring trouble. A neutral scent, one that is barely noticeable and does not evoke emotions, may create a sense of calm and comfort but nothing more. People with a sharply unpleasant smell are simply not "yours." Even if you engage with them, it will feel off.
🐾 There are also environmental scents. These can trigger pleasant memories (such as the smell of metal, resin, books, gasoline, or leather), evoke emotions (rotting leaves, freshly cut grass, water, or earth after rain), or even signal danger. Primals often use their sense of smell to perceive their surroundings.
🐾 The same partner’s scent can be perceived differently at different times. Illness has its own scent, with chronic conditions and temporary colds smelling distinct from each other. When we are upset, a familiar and beloved scent can suddenly become unpleasant. Additionally, different body areas have their own unique smells, which can be another source of enjoyment.
🐾 Primals easily detect unfamiliar scents on their close ones, which can sometimes cause problems.
🟠 For primals, scent is one of the key perception channels, alongside kinesthetic, visual, and auditory senses. It may seem similar to how all humans perceive the world, but primals experience it more deeply and instinctively know how to interpret and use this information.
